Scope

This policy covers the city-based waitlist landing page and related emails. It explains what we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

What we collect

You provide: name, email, chosen city or interests, and any message you send.

Automatic: IP address, general location (city/region), device and browser type, timestamps, referral URL.

Security: We use Google reCAPTCHA to protect forms. reCAPTCHA collects device and browser information, IP address, and interaction data to detect abuse. This data is sent to Google and used under their Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

No other cookies or trackers: We do not set cookies for advertising or analytics.

How we use your data

• Operate the waitlist and reply to you
• Send updates you asked for
• Secure the service and prevent abuse (via reCAPTCHA)
• Improve the landing page based on aggregate, non-identifying logs
• Comply with legal obligations

Legal basis (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we process your personal data on the following legal bases under the GDPR:

• Consent – when you submit the waitlist form, you consent to us contacting you with updates about city-based. You can withdraw consent at any time by unsubscribing.
• Legitimate interests – to protect the service from abuse (reCAPTCHA) and to improve the landing page using aggregate logs, where our interests are not overridden by your rights.
• Legal obligation – where we are required to process data to comply with applicable law.

Emails

• Every email includes an unsubscribe link.
• Emails include our physical mailing address as required by U.S. law.
• You can unsubscribe at any time.

Sharing

• We use service providers for hosting, email delivery, and spam protection (e.g. Google reCAPTCHA).
• They process data for us under contract and, where required, under standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission.
• We may disclose information if required by law or during a merger or acquisition.
• We do not sell personal data. We do not share personal data for cross-context behavioral advertising.

International data transfers

We host data in the United States. If you visit from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, your data will be transferred to the U.S. We rely on standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission and the UK adequacy framework to make those transfers lawful.

Your choices

• Unsubscribe from emails at any time via the link in any email.
• Ask us to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your data by emailing [email protected].
• If you are in the EEA or UK, you have the right to data portability and the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests.
• If you are in the EEA or UK, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (e.g. the Datenschutzbehörde in Austria, the BfDI in Germany, the ICO in the UK).
• We will verify reasonable requests to protect your account and respond within legal timelines (30 days under GDPR).

State privacy rights (U.S.)

If you live in a U.S. state with privacy laws (e.g. California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah), you may have rights to access, delete, correct, or limit certain uses of your data. Contact [email protected] and we will respond within legal timelines.

Children

The waitlist is not for children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child provided data, email us and we will delete it.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect personal data. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure.

Retention

We keep waitlist data until you unsubscribe or until it is no longer needed, then delete or de-identify it. Server logs and security data (including reCAPTCHA logs) may be kept longer for security and compliance.

Changes

We will update this page if our practices change and post a new effective date. For material changes, we will notify waitlist members by email.
